20 Comments | Warcraft lore can be a very fluid thing. It changes or expands with almost every newest release, be it a comic, a novel, a new game or expansion, or even a tabletop supplement. This tends to cause confusion, especially when retcons are involved.
So, my dear readers, I turn this to you. In the comments below I want you to ask me your Warcraft lore questions. Or if there's a lore topic you'd like to see addressed, put those here, too. Those with a quick answer will be addressed in comments. Those with a longer answer will become future LoreCrafted posts.
And if I don't know the answer? Well, that's what research is for, right? I'll find it for ya.

Here's a call for speculation:
Given all the evidence we have, why does Chris Metzen like Richard Knaak? Walter Simonson was a childhood hero, but Knaak?
Any idea of what happened to Tyr?
I think your post has a massive thread of its own waiting to happen. Why not recap all the larger retcons?
Hope this isn't too elementary, but I've been wondering: Where did the non-Orcs learn how to be warlocks?
>_> <_< I'm a little obsessed with dwarf lore, so anytime anyone says "Do you have lore questions?", I tend to jump on it from a dwarvish perspective. Here's what I've been trying to dig into and unable to get clear answers on; maybe you'll have better luck?
Dwarves and the Light. I swear I remember reading that they were introduced to the Light by humans (presumably after the Alliance came into being), but now I can't find references to that. The Light doesn't seem to have the same role as a church-and-religion to dwarves as it does to humans (there's a High Priest, but no Bishops, etc.), but there are still dwarf priests. Any idea how long there have been dwarf priests?
Also, on paladins: Who was training those paladins between the breakup and reformation of the Silver Hand? And since there are dwarf paladin trainers in Ironforge, is it safe to assume that the dwarves have their own orders of paladins and aren't reliant on the Silver Hand and Alonsus Faol (hope so, he's a bit indisposed these days) to bring new short, bearded (or braided!) paladins in? And if so, how long do you think that's been going on?
(All of this subject to "if this topic interests you", etc.!)
I took a break from playing WoW before 3.1 hit and so missed all the Titan lore in Ulduar. Trying to read about it on wowwiki did not really help. Is there a good resourse out there on Titan lore? Or could you write an article on that yourself?
Can you give us a breakdown of which races are from what? Such as (I think) the dwarves/gnomes are from the titans, and the trolls are from the old gods?? What about the nerubians and Aqir, or the taurens?
It might be the tauren in me, but I've wondered why we have multiple bands of Grimtotem taurens that are hostile to the Horde, and yet Magatha and her crew are well situated in Thunder Bluff. What is the Grimtotem's official status? Are they part of the tauren tribes led by Cairne and the ones we fight are considered rogue elements by the rest of the tauren population? Or is there some reason Magatha is tolerated when the rest of the Grimtotems are enemies?
Why is Azhsara considered a demigod when she was just famous for being a pretty Night Elf Sentinel? If she worshipped Sargeras, wouldnt she have been around when Lady Vashj destroyed the Tomb of Sargeras, or would she have escaped to Vash'ir, biding her time so she could exact a plan for he vengence? Also, wasn't Sargeras an enemy of the old gods? Why would a demigod worship him?
I know this may be something you can't answer, but why are there so many representations of lions in stormwind, as well as some of thier heros having lion in thier title, like Lothar((sp)), if Kalimondor was unknown untill recently, and there are no lions, as in ones with manes like in the stachues, in the EK?
What can you tell us about Turalyon?
A "Responses, Round One" post is being prepared to go up Friday morning addressing a few of these questions. Those not addressed in the new post have been chosen to be the subjects for full articles that are being written.
Please keep asking your questions! Those asked after this particular comment will be addressed into another round of responses!
Speculation. I want speculation.
Your previous speculation work was pretty nice, and I think you could step further and start building huge speculations, like a "X expansion lore ideas series" or something like that.
You could focus on zones; on their potential and what Blizzard missed/ignored of them. Examples of my opinion on them:

http://www.scrollsoflore.com/forums/showthread.php?p=163357
(A bit fanfic-y, but whatever :P)
Summarized: Future content what ifs.
And also, debunk crappy speculation, too. Some community rumors and belief are so stupid they need to be fixed with the proper explanation.
Finally, the Scythe of Elune needs a retake, just because of WoW: Alliance 27.
I would be interested in Dwarf related things. I know that's very broad, but whatever you might feel you want to throw in, that's fine with me.
So dwarves - what are they going to get up to now? My view of the dwarves has shown them to be extremely concerned about the past and digging up their origins... and they did just that in Halls of Stone + Ulduar, where their origins were essentially spelled out for them. Does that mean they'll end up turning their attention to some other great dwarven matter, and if so, what?
Also: whatever happened to Moira Bronzebeard and her baby -- shouldn't she have had it by now? -- and what does its survival, if you believe it survived, imply for the future of the Ironforge and Dark Iron dwarves?
(as you can tell, I too have dwarves on the mind.)
Im a big Horde fan, and i love all the Horde races, even the non playible ones, but my question is, how did the Eastern Horde aka Forsaken and Blood elves EXACTLTY join the Orcish Horde under Thrall and how close is the Eastern Horde knit together?
Why do you think Blizzard decided to completely ignore the whole point of Warcraft 3 (the lesson that we no longer needed Guardians or a Council of Tirisfal) and decide to create Medan and a new Council. You could say times have changed, but surely if the world can overcome such dire circumstances as a Legion invasion without a Guardian, it doesn't need one now?
@Stop, @Gorvar, @Althilor: Your questions have been noted, and I've marked them for inclusion in the next round of answers.
As a fan of the middle kingdoms in between Lordaeron and Stormwind, this is a question I've been grappling with for a long time and I was curious about your perspective. Dalaran has been re-introduced to the world and we know that Gilneas is on its way back as well. Is there a chance we could see the revival of other human realms later on? Kul Tiras hasn't been accounted for, although it doesn't seem slated for Cataclysm. Stromgarde's story seems incomplete still as well.
Dear Uncle Greyseer
I have been a longtime fan of the warcraft series and really got into roleplaying shortly after I got into world of warcraft. At times I am a bit of a lore whore and foolishly let myself get frustrated due to certain, um, how can I say this, roleplay that I don't think makes any sense.
It's something you touched on in another thread about roleplaying orcs, though funnily enough it was about night elves. Actually, I think I have seen you mention it a few times. It's related to how a (seemingly) huge number of night elf roleplayers tend to just play night elves as tall, purple, pointy eared, humans, rather than the feral, savage, xenophobic, formally-immortal beings who they are actually meant to be.
I myself do not roleplay a night elf, but one of my main characters has a key element to him that relates to them. He is a human warrior, formly of the Lordaeron Corps. And he hates night elves. He just absolutely cannot forget all of the good men and women who were murdered in cold blood by night elf surprize attacks while the combined orc and human forces were trying to mount a defensive against the burning legion (along with their allies, trolls, dwarves, etc). This is, of course, prior to the 'Last Guardian' (Med'an is the Laster Guardian, Thrall will be the Lastest Guardian? Heh.) forcing the night elves to stop being retards and stop assaulting the forces of good.
I never intended it to be apart of his character, but it just made sense to me. There is a sort of brotherly love between humans and dwarves. They have good relations with the gnomes and, to a certain extent (obviously this has changed quite a bit in recent times), with the high elves.
But the night elves? What reasons do the other races of the Grand Alliance really have to like them? I have rarely seen any kind of tension between the races since that period in warcraft III, but I honestly don't understand why they are suddenly so buddy buddy. They don't have the same values, morals, passtimes, likes, dislikes, religions, any kind of culture similarity, and oh yeah, they killed a shit-ton of humans because 'the trees are sacred'. I completely understand that point, actually. It makes perfect sense in the lore, at least to me. It fits their lore. But why on earth anyone is able to think that somehow the humans on Azeroth would take that as an acceptable reason? Human life is a lot more sacred than some trees to humans and the kind of hatred and fury ignited by that sort of thing tends to cause people who would be more understanding to turn a blind eye anyway.
Huh, it seems I have been rambling for sometime!
What my question boils down to is, what are your thoughts on relations between the night-elves and the other races of the alliance(mainly humans)? Do you think that the way they became friends is a bit odd? Am I missing out on some key lore in a book I haven't been able to find?
Thanks for your time,
Rexi Selic
P.S
Garithos is one of my favorite characters (have I just destroyed my own credibility?) despite that people generally really hate him. What do you think of him?
